A Poem | Andy Martrich
my brother was marginalized
charged in 1998 with
conspiracy and in turn indicted with
criminal mischief
but in santa cruz the year before
we saw the pacific for the first time
and the mass of rock way coast feint
the water mark windows
inside our hotel, the keys left in the door
and the rest of our francs on the dresser
we left the room without seeing the front desk
his room without a key
one hour outdoor time, my mind made up
to travel on the east impish sands
and avoid the mason-dixon
carrying my own delta, sands blurring into blues.
